Day 7 - What a difference a day can make

Well, tomorrow will make it officially 1 week since picked up Cracker Jack from the shelter through the Atlanta Dog Squad. What a great week it has been. But wow, what  a difference a day can make. Yesterday I wrote about "A Day in the Park". But today, was more like having to go see the principal at school because your kid was misbehaving. I mean, you love your kid and all, but sometimes ...

Today, Jack decided to take a day off from his house training. Like normal, I take him for quite a few 20-30 minutes outings a day for him to relieve himself. But he must have been upset with me because every time we went out, he would do one thing to relieve himself, but not the other. Whatever he did outside, he waited for the opposite to do inside just moments after we got back inside.

I guess I can't complain that he took advantage of relieving himself outside, but for some reason he just couldn't grasp doing both things outside during any of our relief walks. So it was rough day for both of us. He had to spend more time than normal in crate and I wanted to see him be free running around playing inside or just hanging by my side sleeping while I worked.

I know these things are normal in house training any dog (I've done it many times before) and all dogs have a 'off-day'. I'm not upset with him, I just have to remind myself he's a puppy in training. So today, I just felt like a lousy dad after having to pick up my honor student from school for misbehaving.
