Today was an uneventful and good day by most standards. I had a lot of work and studying to get done (I work from home) but that was difficult because Cracker Jack was always trying to jump on my lap while I was working. When I wasn't able to give him much attention, he'd just lay under my desk, on my feet, while I worked. But after feeling a little guilty (he is good at making you feel guilty) and realizing I wasn't getting much productive work done, I decided to go outside and play and goof around with Jack (No real training today). It started a walk, but turned into a jog - which he was very good at. He always stayed at my side without trying get away. Monday, May 24, 2010
Day 6 - A day in the Park (figuratively speaking)
Today was an uneventful and good day by most standards. I had a lot of work and studying to get done (I work from home) but that was difficult because Cracker Jack was always trying to jump on my lap while I was working. When I wasn't able to give him much attention, he'd just lay under my desk, on my feet, while I worked. But after feeling a little guilty (he is good at making you feel guilty) and realizing I wasn't getting much productive work done, I decided to go outside and play and goof around with Jack (No real training today). It started a walk, but turned into a jog - which he was very good at. He always stayed at my side without trying get away. Once Jack wore himself out, he resorted to taking in the sun laying comfortable on the grass. I think he was more interested in the sites of just seeing things in action around us. The people, the cars, the kids and the other dogs that would occasionally come by us. For being such a enthusiastic bundle of energy, today was quite nice with him just relaxing.
So after 90 minutes of play outside, playtime was over and back to work for me. And all was good, with the exception of a few hours ago. Jack's readers know I'm still trying figure out his relief cycle, or body clock. And for the most part he is getting better, but we did have a couple "mishaps" today. For the life of me, I can't understand when I took him for 20 minute potty walk about an hour ago - with no success - he decides to wait less than minute when we get back in my apt for him to go.
So obviously there still many things to work on, but I can say he is getting better, or he is getting the better side of me by making me a little more tolerant towards his needs. Jury is still out on that.
It's been quite day with me having to work a lot to finish a big project. But never at any time did ever leave my side. Whatever lucky family adopts this pup, will find that this dog would rather be with somebody doing nothing, than be alone.
