New Day, New Experience

Today was in interesting day for two reasons. First, because I thought Cracker Jack was supposed to be able to attend his first pet adoption event at Petco in Roswell tomorrow,  organized through Atlanta Dog Squad. But then I got word this afternoon that Crack Jack won't be attending because he has not met his official and required 10 day isolation from other dogs just to be sure he doesn't catch any kennel cough or anything like that.

So even though Jack is great health, precautionary must be taken to ensure the other dog's safety as well as his own. The good news is that I get two more weeks to spend and bond with Jack and keep up his training so he'll be ready in time for his new permanent adoptive family.

The other part of the day is when I was able to take  Jack with me to best friends house (with him, his wife, two little dogs and their 2 cats)... I was excited to see how Jack and the others would interact with each other. Being around adults, kids (9 and 12) and two little dogs and 2 cats). I guess I couldn't expect the best with all that activity going for the first time. But it proved to learning lesson.

Jack took the kids and adults great... but the little dogs did not like Jack. I happen to love both of my friends family's dog and they love me to, so I hoping I could share the love. The older dog "Rico" was great... a little nervous a first but held his own ground and got used to Crack Jack. But no such luck with the little female dog Tessa, she was very protective of her home and didn't like the fact a bigger dog came in and invaded her home, which is pretty much what we did. So unfortunately our visit was cut short so as not to upset their dog anymore or confuse Jack any.

Though all this, Jack kept his composure be still felt out place. But the good news is there was something to learn from this venture

But what I did learn was important for potential adopters of Jack. Jack would love to be part of family with mom, pops and some some kids (preferably over 6 or 7 years old. The more people he has around, the more attention he can get and that the love he craves to make his masters' family happily.

The second and valuable thing, is that if you have small dogs who are not familiar with bigger dogs, then it might not be a good match for adoption. But that's not to say it's a definite NO. In fact I would encourage and play-over at your place to make sure the dogs go along well before any commitment is made. invite play over at your house to see that all the animals are comfortable with each other. Even though Jack is no a dominant alpha male, he may come off that way to smaller dogs. So if you have alpha male dominant dog already, (either big or small) that would be OK Jack.

If your dogs were bigger and less afraid of other dogs, then that would be an ideal match. So there is still a lot to determine and learn about the qualities of Jack and I hope to be able to honestly present those to you through these blogs. As much as I've already fell in love with Jack. the next most important thing on my mind is making sure Jack goes to great family.

So I guess from every adventure we take, it helps to reveal a little more about Jack, his qualities and traits. Which will ultimately benefit everybody.
