Observation Update (partial)

Cracker Jack (aka CJ or Jack) is flat out gorgeous and at about 5 mos old. He is still very puppyish from both a personality and looks perspective. He definitely is a BIG puppy and he's still got a lot of growing to do. He has the most adorable personality - he's cuddly, still a bit clumsy, silly, animated and a little unsure of himself. He has the makings, markings and characteristics of a true  purebred yellow lab.

CJ has been fully vetted and appears to be great health.

Other Dogs:  CJ is great with other dogs, he definitely is not afraid of approaching dogs of any size, though his slight more timid initially when approaching larger dogs, he gets over the size and just wants to play. Actually he loves playing with any dogs of any size. So if you already have a pet that likes to play, CJ would be good match.

Adults and Kids:  Just like with other dogs, CJ is definitely people person, he wants to approach and say hi to anybody and everybody. Though I haven't seen him around anybody 6 years old or less so I don't know his behavior there, but I'd assume he'd be just a loving and friendly.

Leashes - CJ is quite used to his leash and we take about 4 walks a day. He doesn't get too excited when we go for walks, because it is such a normal thing to him. At times, he can be antsy on the leash since he wants to explore everything around him. But if you're going on a routine walk, he's very good on the leash. Let's say he's doing well with it and will only get better with more training. Fortunately the two times he yanked his leash away from my hand, he didn't run far. In fact he considered it a game. He would run about 30 feet past me, stop, stare and run straight back towards me running past me... then he'd hunker down on the ground like he was going to charge me, and do just that. He'd do that 3 or 4 times, before I finally would just sit down and he'd realize I wasn't in the mood for chasing or playing, so he'd come right back to me.  That is something I can deal with. In reality it was kinda cute to see him to play me like that.

House and Crate Training:  CJ is fully crate trained and is progressing nicely in the house training mode. In fact it's been 11 straight days that he has not had a single accident in the house. His way of letting you know you he needs to go out is by jumping once on the front door and then sitting by it until he has your attention. Depending on bad he has to go, he'll give me a second warning by jumping again at the front and siting there. As long I take him out within a few minutes of him jumping on the front door once, he's been perfect about only going outside. So for only having Jack a few weeks, he's made a ton of progress.

Later I'll get more into his personality and habits, but hope this information helps potential adoptive families.
